Dexter

Dexter · 2006

I still remember when I was younger. Someone asked me what TV shows I was watching, and I replied, Dexter. He had never heard of it (he wasn't really into TV shows) and naturally asked me:"What's it about?"So I started explaining..."Well... it's about a blood spatter analyst..." (first eyebrow goes up)"...and, uh... he's actually a serial killer who kills people... criminals, to be fair, but he hunts them down... chops them into pieces... and that's basically the show."Second eyebrow goes up.He gives me a strange look (haha, I really hope I didn't scare him) and simply says:"Well... that's original!"

Dexter isn't just one of the best crime series I've ever watched.

It's a psychological experiment on the audience itself.

It made me wonder just how easily our sense of right and wrong can shift once we get to know the human being behind the monster.

And maybe that's the show's most disturbing achievement.

In the end, you don't just remember the murders.

You remember spending eight seasons hoping he wouldn't get caught.

...You did too, didn't you? 😄
