He never won an Oscar, but perhaps he defined an entire era!
Fight Club · 1999
Fight Club is not perfect, and in certain places its philosophy becomes just as self-satisfied as the Tyler it criticizes. But it is one of those rare films in which the direction, cinematography, editing, sound, performances and screenplay all work toward the same goal, creating a cinematic experience that ultimately does not depend on whether you agree with it. You can love it, hate it or disagree with it, but it is very difficult to forget.
And perhaps that is much more important than an Oscar.
