An Extended Look.
GTA VI · 08/08/2026

So Rockstar can say:"We won't just go to gamers. We'll go to the entire Netflix audience."
And while we were all probably expecting the 3rd trailer, Netflix seized the opportunity and announced that an extended look at the title is coming on August 27th!
Specifically, it will premiere on Netflix on August 27, 2026, at 10:00 PM Greek time. Six hours later, at 4:00 AM on August 28th, it will be available for free on Rockstar's official YouTube channel and on the official GTA VI website.
Journalist Jason Schreier recently spoke with Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, and according to the information that has been released, Schreier expects the Extended Look to offer a "meaty" look at the actual gameplay — meaning not another cinematic trailer with 30 seconds of gameplay between cuts.
And this is important because until now Rockstar has done something very specific:
Trailer 1 → cinematic presentation
Trailer 2 → more story / characters / world-building
Extended Look → supposedly now we're going into the game itself.
Rockstar has not yet officially revealed how long it will be or exactly what it will include, so we cannot say with certainty "it will be 15 minutes of gameplay" or anything like that. This is circulating as an expectation/reference, not as a confirmed duration.
Zelnick reportedly told Schreier that when people see the Extended Look on Netflix, they will understand why they chose Netflix for the premiere.
And when Schreier asked him if it would feel like watching a Netflix show, the answer was essentially:
Yes.
This is the point that has set theories ablaze.
We don't yet know what this technically means.
It has not been confirmed that it will be interactive.
It has not been confirmed that it will have episodes.
It has not been confirmed that it will include developer interviews.
It has not been confirmed that it will be a "documentary" in the classic sense.
But the phrase "it will feel like a Netflix show" comes from the head of Take-Two himself, so it's not just a simple fan theory.
My opinion is that Rockstar, which always wants to innovate as the KING of all gaming releases, didn't just want to release a 3rd trailer that would, okay, break the internet. It wanted to do something special and, of course, not for free, as I imagine it wasn't done for nothing.
It wants to present GTA VI as an entertainment event.
Something along the lines of:
intro → Vice City / Leonida → Jason &Lucia → gameplay systems → world → mission → action → characters → details → big gameplay sequence → release date.
With much more television-style editing and cinematic narration.
There's also a second reason.
Zelnick reportedly explained that partnering with Netflix can help GTA VI reach a wider audience than hardcore gamers — people who know GTA VI exists, but aren't necessarily gamers who would search YouTube for the next trailer.
And here, between us, the strategy makes crazy sense.
GTA is no longer just a video game.
GTA V has surpassed 200 million copies and the franchise is now a global entertainment phenomenon. GTA VI has already reached a level where even people who don't play games know that "the new GTA is coming."
So Rockstar can say:
"We won't just go to gamers. We'll go to the entire Netflix audience."
Rumors currently say that pre-orders for the game are starting to reach... 39 million copies (again, rumors).
They say it will make 3 billion dollars in 24 hours!Newzoo had recently done an analysis and said that in the US + the 5 largest European markets alone, there would be 180 million dollars from pre-order revenue in the first week. (I remind you they opened on June 25)
