William Atherton, born July 30, 1947, is an American actor. He is best known for his iconic roles as reporter Richard Thornburg in the Die Hard film series and as EPA agent Walter Peck in Ghostbusters. Atherton also had notable roles in films such as The Sugarland Express (1974), The Day of the Locust (1975), and Real Genius (1985). He has also appeared in numerous television series and stage productions throughout his career.
