Season 3, Episode 4 | Unfortunately not what I would have wanted

After three truly explosive episodes, the 4th episode of Lioness gave me more the feeling of a setup episode rather than one that dynamically advances the story. That's why I won't go into a deeper analysis of what exactly happened, as I believe most of it serves as a setup for what's to come.

There were, however, some very strong moments. Joe's conversation with the Russian at the beginning of the episode was one of the best, and Kaitlyn's scene in the operations center was also very good, when she essentially admits that if they manage to get Joe out of the country and the aircraft is located, military intervention may even be necessary. Even better was her conversation with her husband, where she prepares him for the three possible scenarios, including the worst.

Joe's attempt to leave behind traces using her blood was a clever idea, although the execution was a bit... meh. Seriously guys, there were three Russians in the hangar, couldn't one clean up a little better? 😄

The problem is that, after what we saw in the first three episodes, I expected a lot more action. The episode isn't bad and certainly sets the stage for what's to come, but personally I felt it was more of a filler/setup episode.

And perhaps that is ultimately the good news. Because Joe is now in an extremely difficult position, the team knows what's at stake, and everything indicates that the next big explosion won't be long in coming.

For now, then, a small digression. Let's move on.
